The beach of Finikounda lies in front of its settlement at the south section of the Messinian prefecture. Visible from the beach is the island Schiza which is right across. The Schiza island is the biggest of the Messinian Inouses complex. Awarded with a blue flag for its crystal clear waters, paved with sand all the way through and with green-blue, warm and shallow waters, the beach is the ideal destination for families with young children. Maurovouni beach is located 1 km away from the center of Finikounda at the street from Kamaria towards Finikounda at the south section of the Messinian prefecture. It is one of the most famous beaches of the area and extends over 2 km length. The beach is sandy with crystal clear waters and ideal for games and various activities. With the exception of the “Anemomilos” section, the beach is not organized and lacks natural shadows. However, you can supply yourself with the essentials from stores and restaurants operating close to the beach or from nearby campsites.
Anemomylos beach is located only 500 meters away from the center of Foinikounta on the road towards Methoni and is the most famous beach of the area, extending 8 kilometers in length. It has velvety white sand and crystal clear waters guaranteed by its awarded blue flag. It’s an ideal beach for families due to its shallow waters and accessibility. It is organized with sunbeds, umbrellas and delivers anything a visitor desires. It also provides the opportunity for many water sports, making it an ideal meeting point for windsurfing lovers in particular.
Loutsa beach is located very close to Foinikounda. Its coast consists of sand and large pebbles with thick pebbles and occasional large stones lying on the seabed. The beach has been awarded a blue flag for its clean waters. It also is a meeting point for many amateur fishermen from Greece and abroad.
One of the most famous beaches in the area, Zaga beach is a long, endless sandy beach starting from the southern part of the castle of Koroni extending all the way up to the west side towards Foinikounta. Its timeless value and preference from both families and youth is a direct result of its fine sand and crystal clear blue waters.
The homonymous beach the locals also refer to as Glyfadaki, Romanos beach is an extraordinary sandy beach with crystal clear blue waters. It’s consisted of small sandy beaches one after the other. One section of the beach is organized with umbrellas, sunbeds and a beach bar. The rest of it is clear, providing many options to all those who require a quiet enjoyment of the sun and sea.
Voidokilia beach, is probably the most famous beach in all of Messinia and one of the most mesmerizing ones in all of Greece. At the edge of Voidokilia beach, lies a natural creek. White, fine sand spreads over a large area, from one end of the beach to the other. The beach is full of beautiful shells, as long as you immerse your handful in the sand. The beach is remote enough, maintaining its natural authenticity. It lies within the Natura 2000 protected area and you will not encounter any organized manmade activity.
